Indian Council of Social Welfare is an International organization, affiliated to the International Council of Social Welfare. International Council of Social Welfare is now representing more than 50 countries throughout the world. International Council of Social Welfare has the highest level of consultative status with the United Nations (UN) in relation to the work of the Economic and Social Council. It is also accredited to FAO, ILO, UNICEF, UNESCO, WHO and to regional intergovernmental organizations. The international offices at Geneva, Netherlands, Kampla and New York.

ICSW is working in the field of social welfare came in existence in India in 1947 with central office at Mumbai. This organisation was responsible in the formation of Ministry of Welfare at the centre. It works in close co-ordination with central and state governments, other voluntary organisations and international bodies in social service fields.

ICSW is registered under Public Trust Act 1950 (BOMXXXIX of 1950). Number public trust F 321 (BOM). Under Societies Registration Act 1860. Act XXI of 1860 number 1799 of 1947-1948. Donation to ICSW exempted from Inc ome Tax under Sec 80G. The council has 22 state branches in various states and union territories.

Kerala state branch functions in Kerala since 3rd October 1954.

As per the directive from the Hon. Supreme Court, Government of India and Hon. High Court of Kerala, ICSW is the final authority in Kerala scrutinizing the adoption documents for Inter-country and In-country adoptions.

  • ICSW representatives had active interaction with Welfare Departments, officials of the CARA ( Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, ISS United Kingdom, and NGOs for making or implementing policies on Child Welfare.
  • Our membership support service has assisted many of our members around the world with information and advice about Social Services
  • ICSW is not a funding agency. Icsw activities are funded by membership fees sponsorships for seminar/workshops and from Adoption Scrutiny fees.
